 Peter started work as a management trainee with the well known food retailer J Sainsbury plc, working at a number of branches in a variety of roles, including running a team responsible for layout and ordering system implementation at new shop openings and alterations, predominately throughout the Midlands, during a period of rapid growth for the company.

 

Wanting a total change in career direction, Peter moved to the electronic leisure machine market, initially with national operator MHG, and was subsequently invited to join Bass Leisure Machine Services, which was a growth area within Bass Leisure.  Over the years he held a number of management positions including Commercial Support Manager, responsible for product purchase, a two year secondment as Special Projects Manager, coordinating the introduction of a new computerised stock system across the company’s UK depots, the integration and rationalisation into the core business of various companies acquired over a number of years, then to General Manager of a large East Midlands operational depot, responsible for £6.5m gross T/O, maximising profit circa £1.6m, cost control, customer liaison and the management of over 80 staff.
