Buying and selling a business – Business Partnership: A case study
A brand leading and profitable UK-based company supplying construction and landscaping materials to the public, commercial and domestic sectors has been sold by Business Partnership Corporate to one of the UK’s leading landscaping suppliers.
Sourced from industry wholesalers and manufacturers and used across a range of sectors including schools, industrial buildings, leisure, public developments and residential, FLP’s products were sold online to a nationwide customer base and walk-in clients based close to its Gloucestershire premises.
Products were targeted at industrial clients, landscape professionals, builders, local councils, conservationists and home owners. Loyal customers included a large builders merchant chain and the National Trust.
Launched by our client – the major shareholder – and his family in 2003 as an online pond liner merchant, FLP Ltd grew steadily and recorded increased sales in 2016.
A turnkey operation with full systems and websites, FLP Ltd offered substantial potential for product range development and market expansion. A flexible lease made the business fully relocatable anywhere in the country.
The company had also established exceptional longstanding trading relationships and considerable investment had been made to promote the company and its various brand names including Greenseal Rubber, an alternative to Butyl rubber material for pond and lake lining applications, and Commercial Landscape Fabric.
Business Partnership Corporate director John Hatt said: “We are delighted to have brokered the deal between FLP Ltd and Green-Tech, an award-winning landscaping supplier based in Knaresborough, North Yorkshire, and wish our client well as he pursues other personal interests.”
