Case study: Positive Environmental Ltd acquired by Busters Group

Positive Environmental, which provides domestic and commercial pest control services across Herefordshire, Worcestershire, Gloucestershire and the West Midlands, has been acquired by Birmingham-based Busters Group in a sale brokered by Business Partnership.

Founded in 2009 and privately run by our client, this well-established business boasts an impressive list of accreditations and recommendations including membership of the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health, Which? Trusted Traders and Think Wildlife – Campaign for Responsible Rodenticide Use.

Headquartered in Hereford, the business had many individual contracts in place and a large client base offering repeat trade. Property management companies, schools, colleges and factories accounted for around 50 per cent of the business.

Positive Environmental worked on annual contracts primarily revolving around a six-week service contract for a 12-month period, the majority of which were concerned with rat and mice eradication. Most of this work was based on either an annual contract paid for in advance or quarterly via direct debit.

This acquisition is the fourth for Busters Group in as many years. The company, which has an annual turnover of £2.2m and employs more than 50 staff, had previously acquired counterparts in the Midlands and Cambridge. Its range of services includes property clearance, bird and pest control and garden and hygiene services.

Founder and managing director Dave Nash said: “We know the area well as we are based right on the edge of Worcestershire and already have many clients in the region. This takeover is another chapter in a measured acquisition strategy where standards will not be compromised due to a solid infrastructure.”

Business Partnership director John Hatt said: “We are pleased to have brokered the sale of Positive Environmental to a fast-growing business and wish our client well in his future ventures.”
