J Turner & Associates, a long-established structural engineering consultancy based in the West Midlands, has been successfully acquired by Tier Group Ltd, a fast-growing structural and civil engineering consultancy headquartered in Chester.
Founded in 2003, Tier Group has expanded rapidly, with offices in Warrington, Manchester, Sheffield, and London. The acquisition of J Turner & Associates provided the group with a valuable Midlands base, enhancing its geographic reach and strengthening its service offering. The firm’s well-established reputation and loyal client base were key attractions for Tier Group.
The deal was structured to support a smooth transition, with funding comprising a mix of cash, deferred payments, and shares in the new business. The previous owner remained involved in a phased retirement plan, reducing working hours over time while continuing to provide valuable expertise through a consultancy role.
This strategic acquisition marks another milestone in Tier Group’s expansion and secures the future of J Turner & Associates within a larger network of engineering expertise.
